Finance and Administration


Job Role:

• Reporting to the General Manager, Finance and Adminstration / Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), the candidate is required to:

• To provide direct assistance to the CFO and to be accountable for the direction, day-to-day management and operations as well as control of the procurement, finance, financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, accounting systems and methodology, fixed assets, investment and corporate finance functions;

• To provide direct assistance to the CFO in the preparation and management of annual financial audit and any specific management audits to be performed by the external auditors;

• To lead and manage the Finance team in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and relevant reports in relation to financial reporting for Audit Committee, the Board as well as external stakeholders;

• To lead the periodic review and assessment of the relevancy of financial policies and procedures;

• To actively support the development of the Corporation’s three year strategic plan and to provide direct assistance to the CFO in developing strategic and operational plans and initiatives for Finance Department as well as monitor and ensure successful completion of those plans and initiatives;

• To lead the Finance team to meet departmental objectives, as well as divisional and corporate objectives by providing assessments and recommendations on the service and resource implications of programs, projects and activities;

• To lead the Finance team in the effective management of risks specific to the department as well as relevant risks at the corporate level;

• To ensure and advise management and employees on controls and financial compliance with relevant rules, standards and regulations;

• To actively participate as a member in meetings and activities of various committees namely Asset and Liability Committee, Strategic Planning and Enterprise Risk Management Committee, Senior Management Committee and as an alternate member in other committees as determined by the CFO;

• To be responsible for the overall performance of the Finance Department;

• To maintain strong and effective networks with relevant Government agencies, Bank Negara Malaysia, corporate bankers, other stakeholders and vendors.

Job Requirement:

• A Bachelor degree from any recognised university majoring in Finance or Accounting and/or possess a professional accounting qualification such as ICAEW, CPA, ACCA, MICPA or equivalent;

• A Master degree is an added advantage;

• At least 13 years of working experience in a Finance Department or combined experience in Finance and audit, with at least 9 years in a leadership role;

• Experienced in managing the financial affairs with emphasis on control over resources within the changing legislative and standards requirements of a dynamic and evolving financial industry;

• Meticulous, strong analytical skills and organizational skills;

• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills;

• Ability to think and act strategically and proactively;

• Excellent writing and presentation skills;

• Ability to fluently speak and write in Bahasa Melayu is an added advantage.

Mandate

Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) is a Government agency established in 2005 under Akta Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (Akta PIDM).

Our role under Akta PIDM is to administer the Deposit Insurance System (DIS) and the Takaful and Insurance Benefits Protection System (TIPS) to protect depositors and owners of takaful certificates and insurance policies in the event of a member institution failure.

PIDM is also mandated to provide incentives for sound risk management in the financial system, as well as promote and contribute to the stability of the financial system.
